In celebration of National Beer Day, we’ve rounded up the best beer gardens around Yorkshire. So wherever you are you can spend a lovely day enjoying some great beer and soaking up the sun, if it ever appears!


The Fleece Inn, Barkisland – Situated in Calder Valley with stunning panoramic views from the tiled patio beer garden. Choose from a selection of Timothy Taylors, Saltaire’s Yorkshire Blonde and Black Sheep, as well as beers from Ossett Brewery, Little Valley and Goose Eye. If you go on a Sunday, try one of their delicious Sunday roasts with local meats.




The Horseshoe Inn, Levisham – Located in the beautiful North Yorkshire Moors National Park in a peaceful and tranquil village, this beer garden offers picturesque surroundings including the Dalby Forest. To make it a full day out, go via the North Yorkshire Moors Railway for great views, and indulge yourself with the pubs amazing deep fried Whitby haddock and chips.






The Bull Inn, West Tanfield – On the banks of River Ure near Masham, enjoy a locally brewed pint in this sun trapped beer garden, looking out of the great river views. This cosy stone-built pub is traditional and charming, and ideal for walkers with many routes nearby including the Ripon Rowel and Yoredale Way.




The Mustard Pot, Chapel Allerton – A relaxed pub in one of Leeds’ best suburbs, known for its extremely well-tended and spacious beer garden. This pub is family friendly, and serves up an impressive menu, including pub classics as well as vegetarian meals.




The Ship Inn, Sewerby – Nestled in a coastal village near Bridlington, this traditional pub has a unique beer garden that boasts incredible views of the North Sea. There’s always something going on here, with regular live music and the annual Beer & Music Festival on August Bank Holiday weekend.




Waterlane Boathouse– One of Leeds’ newest additions, this pub offers a calm oasis with lovely waterside views from the outdoor seating area. Inside you’ll find exposed brick and original wooden flooring, as well as an array of beers, wines, cocktails, and delicious pizzas.





The Dam House, Sheffield – Overlooking the Old Great Dam, this beer garden has great scenery with an open view of the water, and Crookes Valley Park. The garden has plenty of seats, is family friendly, and to top it off they serve a tasty and reasonably priced Sunday roast.




The Vaults, Ilkley – A popular local spot in the warmer months, with a relaxed and homely feel, friendly and welcoming staff, as well as a great range of beers and wines and a well-priced food menu. The garden was refurbished last year, and cooks up a great BBQ every Friday during summer, and you can enjoy lovely views of the River Wharfe.




The Old Bridge Inn,  Kirkstall – Run by the Kirkstall Brewery, you can expect the best real ales which can be enjoyed in the lovely beer garden, perfectly situated by the canal. Whilst the ale is a must, so is the great pub food.




Stonegate Yard, York – Right near the stunning York Minster, but away from the hustle and bustle, this beer garden provides a haven tucked away from the city centre, with plants and lighting creating a chilled vibe. The cover over the garden also makes it great for the not so great British weather.
