Keep your home warm this winter!

With the cold months just beginning, its important to make sure you keep warm in your home over winter. Here are some quick and easy tips for a warm home that save on energy and money!

#1 Thick curtains

The thicker the better to stop heat escaping through your windows. You can even put a curtain or rug up over your door to keep the heat in!

#2 Duvets and blankets

Swapping your duvet for a thicker one or layering up on blankets will keep you warm at night without having the heating on full blast.

#3 Sunlight

Provides free heat so let as much in as possible whilst its out, then shut them as soon as dusk falls to retain the heat.

#4 Draught excluders

Use this to stop the cold draught getting under your doors; you can purchase them cheaply or make your own by stuffing old tights with socks!

#5 Clear radiators

Avoid having items in front of your radiators; leave them uncovered so the heat can warm up your room.

#6 Cover bare floorboards

They look stylish but can make rooms feel cold. This is easily solved by covering your floors with rugs and floor cushions, which also double up as a lovely decor features!

#7 Setting heating timers

Its actually not better to keep the heating on all day! Setting timers for when you want the heat is much more efficient.

#8 Use tin foil

Putting heat reflective aluminium foil behind your radiators prevents heat escaping by reflecting it back into the room.

#9 Leaving bathroom and kitchen doors open

When you take a shower and when you cook, leave the doors open so the free heat generated can warm the rest of the house.

#10 Invest in a hot water bottle

They’re great for that extra bit of warmth without putting the heat on. Try putting one in your bed before you go to sleep too.
