Crafts and upcycling are those trends you always want to try, but seem far too difficult, and you’re sure you’d end up with a paper mache mess or missing a finger. Well we have some super simple upcycling ideas to ease you into the world of crafts and DIY, all you need is a little imagination. Want to get the kids involved in crafting? Decorate used mason jars- transform them into holders for pens or makeup brushes, pop in a candle, grow indoor plants, or use at as a dream jar.
Repurpose old tin cans- by punch holes into them (be careful!) in patterns, then pop in a candle or fairy lights to create cute DIY lanterns.
Melted bead sun catchers- simply layer small colourful, plastic beads into cake pans, melt in the oven for 20 minutes, let them cool then flip out, drill a hole at the top and tie up with string! So easy yet so pretty.
Reuse cereal boxes- decorate with patterned wrapping paper and turn them into magazine and mail holders, makeup and stationary organisers, and even drawers to hold jewellery!
Whisk candle holder- all you have to do is pop in a candle and hang upsidedown! So simple. You could always add a bit of paint to make it more colourful
Put old books to good use- can’t bear to throw books away? Use the pages to make unique decorations, homemade cards, candle holders, and transform book covers as a cover for your tablet.
Do the same with old maps- turn into decorations, cover bowls and candle holders, or even create your own unique photos and wall art.
Don’t throw away worn out furniture- or be put off buying second-hand, everything can be spruced up with a little TLC. A great idea is to decorate an old step ladder and use as shelves!
